I haven’t had much pure making time lately. I do love looking back thru my scrapbooks at old layouts, and it always seem to jump start my mojo again.
In order to “catch up” 2016 a bit, I am thinking of working on a November project. My idea is sort of like a “thankful” album, but using it as an opportunity to look back on the year and scrap some events I haven’t gotten to do yet. I am trying to decide what the most efficient way to do this is, and I would like to just incorporate it into my regular 2016 album, instead of having a separate book.
While I like doing separate mini albums, or trip books sometimes, I really like the chronology.
Here are a few fall/October layouts I love from years past. I realize I like October and fall better than December & the holidays.
A few years back I did a daily October album, using an 8×8 Simple Stories album. I love looking back thru it. I think part of it is just the colors in the photos: golden shades of leaves, orange pumpkins, but still with the green grass backdrop.
Love this photo of my nephew. He is obsessed with this blow-up Elmo & pumpkins at his grandparents house. It’s one of my favorite stories too.
Grandmom wanted to find one for him when he was 2 as he kept looking at the neighbor’s Tigger blow-up (he happened to be Tigger that year for Halloween too, which resulted in mega-cute photos!). So her and I were at a local flea market and saw this box, the woman said it was still in good condition & sold it for $5! Literally, one of the best $5 ever spent, as he looks forward to getting it out every year. Of course, when he was younger it was more about the characters, now it’s about the mechanics, and the light, and switching it on & off a million times in a row. I think this may be the last year, but 6 seasons isn’t bad?! He was 3 in this photo, and so far we’ve gotten one of him every year in front of it. He’s grown so much, this year he is able to give Elmo a proper hug.
As I was flipping thru my albums, I remember I have some events that still needed to be added or cleaned up a bit, going back to 2013! yikes. Gotta get on that. Hoping to get more accomplished in the studio as the season changes and keeps me indoors more. Not to mention the studio needs a major cleaning and possible overhaul. As always, trying to be aware of my patterns & create better habits going forward. Looking forward to the challenge.
Thanks for stopping by. Do you prefer October/fall layouts over December/holidays also? What is your favorite time of year to scrap? Or is there a time where you get more accomplished than others?
